The City of Huntsville's Five-Year Consolidated Plan will outline how the City plans to use grant funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under the federal Community Development Block Grant program (CDBG) and Home Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) programs. The plan will look at priority needs related to affordable housing, homelessness, and community services and facilities. Based on these priorities, Huntsville will set goals for community improvement from 2025 to 2029.
An important part of this plan is YOUR feedback as a resident or stakeholder in Huntsville - your voice is important in assessing your community's needs!
The City of Huntsville is also preparing a fair housing study known as an Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice or AI. This study looks at whether everyone in the community has the same housing options regardless of factors like race, ethnicity, nationality, sex, gender, religion, disability, and family status. The AI will also includes strategies Huntsville can take to expand fair access to housing over the next five years.
When cities receive federal grant money from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), they are encouraged to prepare a plan like this in order to show that they are taking meaningful action to overcome historic patterns of discrimination and segregation.
